Blah blah blah

What should I write? Have no idea. Probably I should introduce myself. But let's leave that for later.

Let's talk about something more interesting.

Egyptian girls.

First of all don't get me wrong, I'm not here to mock or make fun of them or anything. I'm half Egyptian. But honestly I think many girls nowadays are either weird, freaky, too dramatic or too shallow.

Am I right? And I want to hear guys' opinions frankly, not girls who will do nothing but defend themselves and that talk about "You have only met the weird shallow type and we're something else."

Yeah like I don't know any better.

Of course there are "other" types of girls but they're either "too" intellectual, ugly (sorry for that), weird (again) or just cold. I don't know.

Never mind.

Whenever I go sit at one of my favorite cafes, sipping my coffee, minding my own business, reading or doing stuff on my laptop, I turn around and there's always a girl staring at me. Yeah, OK, one of my ex-girl friends told me there was something about my features (I'm half Italian and my Italian is terrible) that draw others to me. But why are those staring at me with their b/f or who ever that could be? And if she's all alone she's either ugly (sorry again) or, pardon me, looks paranoid?

I should really shut up now.

Anyway, I'm new to this blogging thing and I'm speaking my mind. Are there etiquettes to follow around here?

Ciao.

I know you do not want to listen to a girls reply.. but hey.. I never follow directions..
I am sure that being stared at by girls ur age is better than my end of the stick... only old men find me attractive. They stare, they comment, they try to grab me. I don't mean slightly old.. I mean "could hang out with my grandfather" old.. so be happy that women are staring. Also, Egyptians like staring in general.. maybe it is not you they are attracted to, maybe they just need to stare somewhere and you fall in their line of sight ;o)
I think that most people are superficial and shallow.. not only the girls in Egypt. Try to look at the other qualities and get a whole picture of the person. Other than that, try doing new things and meeting new people. Maybe you just were introduced to a superficial and shallow group of people and that is why you are surrounded by them.

I read this post before I left the house this morning, and ever since, I've been brewing up a response. Fortunately for you, and unfortunately for me, I've been swamped in classes and I can't remember anything I wanted to write. So I'm going to start from scratch :p

Don't get me wrong or anything, but I found your post really funny. In some parts of it, the hypocrite in you comes out.

Need I remind you of the comment you left on my blog? "she’s prettier than Cameron who’s skinnier, but still…" What I understood from this comment is that according to you, skinny girls are supposed to be pretty no matter; there just happen to be an exception every once in a while and a normal sized gal like Winslet is judged on her facial features instead of weight. If that isn't superficial/shallow, I'm not sure what is. Plus, it was your comment, doesn't it make you superficial too? So try not to complain about girls who look at guys based on their looks; if anything it's a skill we picked up from men. Corrupting us awel bawel, mesh kedda? :p

I don't want to start on the wrong foot here; but ya3ni, you should also "ra3i" that the men (most) in Egypt are well, exactly as you described the women. You can't point fingers at one gender without pointing at the other. Frankly, men in Egypt aren't so fab themselves; who am I kidding? Men everywhere are icky!

You probably don't want to hear, "you're surrounded by the superficial and shallow" but hey, if you're complaining about it, then I suggest you find a new group.

Complaining of being looked at because of your appearance? Do you have any idea what a pain in the ass it is for us [females] to go out without being oggled at?! Do you know how uncomfortable that feels? I doubt it highly. Don't tell me that you've been victimized by a female who decided to "accidentally" brush by your, well..you know. Don't, because I won't believe you. You know, at one point or the other, the stares get so violating that it feels as if the stares are melting us into the ground. (A little sci-fi for you there).

W ta3ala henna, what's wrong with intellectual women, aw wait, let me phrase this as you did "too" intellectual. Are you intimidated that she might know things that make you feel like you're less than she is on the intellectual scale? Read. Aw bel asa7, 'google', e7na generation Google. Build up on your facts, when you do, women who are "too" intellectual won't intimidate you.

"She looks, paranoid". Does she twitch her eyes and her head? Foam coming out of her mouth? Or maybe she's shouting in the middle of the cafe because she thinks there's something running after her. Being paranoid means they suffer mental disorder which causes delusions etc.

So, Mr. Not Typical Uomo Egiziano, (aywa, I don't know 'not typical' in Italian, go away :p) I'm one for freedom of speech, seriously. You want to talk about Egyptian girls the way you do, go head. Bas you have to balance the equation too. Next time you go to your favourite cafe, sipping on coffee, look around and count how many guys with girlfriends are looking at other girls. So the best thing to do - to veer away from being a hypocrite - is to always balance the equation. You want to bash one gender? Don't forget to bash the other.

Reading through my comment you'll notice I'm not 'defending' my gender, but I'm trying to show you that you can't say something about girls without applying it to guys as well. Right?

Sorry if your eyes strained while reading this, bas I couldn't help not writing anything.

Whoah. First off, welcome to the blog scene dude. And no, there are no rules to follow here just keep in mind who you want your readers to be. Just be careful, Sou is watching you... :D

I have to say I agree with you on some points. Just not the intellectual thing. Intellectual is good but my idea about this is that many pretty girls dont have the time to be intellectual because they waste a lot of time on fashion and make-up and whatever it is that keeps them pretty so it's kind of a trade-off. But every rule has quite a few exceptions... :D

Regarding staring.... I don't get any of that... :D (or maybe I just don't notice)... so girls must find you handsome.... and if you're half Italian then you will look foreign and Egytptians love to stare when foreigners are around... :D

Nora: I appreciate your opinion since I respect your mind and thoughts judging by your blog.

And yes it's NOT just "Egyptian girls" but girls all over the world.

Sou: Tab bera7a 3laya shewaya. Ana 7ases enek 7atedrabeeny :P

I'm a hypocrite?? Leih keda bas?

First of all, almost all guys now prefer skinny girls. I never said I do. I said "Cameron is skinnier, but Kate is prettier" which is exactly what I told one of my friends here after watching the movie as he kept arguing he's take "skinny" anytime over "beautiful" so you totally got me wrong!

La2 tab3an skinny girls aren't all pretty. Some are ugly. I mean take this "Dolly Shahin", the Lebanese singer or dancer or whatever, she's so skinny, but I don't like her looks at all, batatan.

Some of my male friends are so shallow, never denied that.

Sou, I'm not complaining girls look at me. It's really nice. I just wonder why it's not someone I may be interested in as in pretty and nice and single.

And yes since you brought it up, Some females used to brush by my (whatever).

I love intellectual women (with spectacles kaman). I meant by "too intellectual" that they have nothing else on their minds but studying, learning, books..etc. So working out a relationship, taking care of her husband/fiance, having fun isn't her kind of thing.

LOL I studied psychology for a while and I know paranoid. Trust me.

Who said I wasn't gonna bash my gender in a coming post?

You're being so hard on me, Sou. Sit back and relax.

Mak: (at last a male voice here next to mine)

Yes, Sou is watching me :D LOL

I won'r mention anything here about staring at girls (I stare too but not much) or being looked at.

You said it, Sou is watching.

no rules dude.

girl verbal bashing is always welcome of course :)

something to balance all the man bashing blogs/posts out there.

but try to use more subtle phrases :) ugly is the same as plain yet easier to swallow (but then again that's a rule)

enjoy and welcome to the scene

I'm a girl... I'm egyptian... and I totally agree... talking about shallow... most egyptians and I dnt wanna generalize have become so superficial to the extent that it's making me sick... anyway there are still pretty intellectual interesting girls out there... I knw some :)

Ana mabadrabsh. :)

"Almost all guys now prefer skinny girls"?! I can't believe you just said that, seriously. I pity you, the media has distorted your vision, it really has.

"I'm not complaining girls look at me. It's really nice." Very humble, aren't you? :D

If I were you, I'd stop being so picky, "eli yekhaf min el bo3bo3 yetla3lo." Isn't that a fitting proverb?

"And yes since you brought it up, Some females used to brush by my (whatever)." I told you eni mesh hasada2ak, la2eni mesh hasada2 that some Egyptian gals weslo el mostawa dah, I refuse to believe it, I refuse.

I'm giving you a point for using the word 'spectacles'.

Hard on you eh bas ya Not Typical; speaking of which, if you don't mind, an shorter name is needed to refer to you by. Unless 'Not Typical' is what you want to be called.

So you're planning on bashing your own gender? In just one post?! JUST ONE?! I know you can do better than that - a series of posts perhaps? ;)

Italiano said...

Kareem: Yes, girls bashing is welcome. Aiwa keda. Howa da el kalam ya m3alem :)

Yes, they bash us all the time. Let us talk shewaya ba2a.

OK, delete ugly and replace with plain.

The Cramp Twins: You do? :D Fein??

Sou: "Almost all guys now prefer skinny girls"?! I can't believe you just said that, seriously. I pity you, the media has distorted your vision, it really has."

Ya benty ba2olek my friends say so. Enty leih bet2aw7y men 3'eir matfakary? Think! Most of my friends say they prefer skinny girls. Tell me one sentence I said which directly means I prefer skinny girls. None, of course.

Normal grils are fine, not fat and not skinny. Somewhere in between. Wala kaman keda we7esh?

The media has definitely distorted our minds, yes. ALL OF US, not just guys. I still have my own thoughts, whatever you think.

Ba3dein leih 7ekayet skinny dee ta3baky awy keda? My sister hates the word cos she can't diet :D

"And yes since you brought it up, Some females used to brush by my (whatever)." I told you eni mesh hasada2ak, la2eni mesh hasada2 that some Egyptian gals weslo el mostawa dah, I refuse to believe it, I refuse."

Well, it's up to you what you believe. Again many girls here are so decent and nice and everything you want, but some or a few 3ashan matez3aleish are bad.

Sure, call me "Not Typical".

Bash my own gender in more than one post. I think one is enough. And as Kareem sais, girls bash us all the time. Will think about it :P

Not Typical.. and Kareem...
In a battle of gender bashing women will win.. so just don't start! ;o)
You will never be able to balance the equation, so just don't try. Failure will be the only result to your attempt.
(I have been told that I am very good at persuading people... if you want reasons as to why you will lose just ask.. )
That is the cute thing about men.. you guys really don't understand that you are the weaker gender...
;o)

(Not Typical.. I do not think you have to bash men in any posts, I think people will take care of it for you in your comments)

KareemFromEgypt said...

well to be honest i dislike skinny women tamaaman :)

but then again i've had by butt grabbed several times in Egypt by several girls so Sou you might wanna stop refusing to believe :)

and Nora, it's not a battle, it's freedom of expression :) stop using negative words

Coconut said...

will u stop using words like " men" ,"women" as if u all are masters of human nature.
"Only fools Generalize"
i agree with Mak that some egyptians like to stare especially at foreigners. & again , do as Sou said & nexttime count how many guys stare at gurls.
i also suffer from shallowness in Egypt,i wait for each chance abroad coz there I always get fulfilled with many intellectual & fruitful talks with either guys or girls. In some other countries, people have brains & time for manyother things rather than el tazbit, el mosa7ba, el mozzaz, meriam fares or Haifa wahby.this applies in both genders

not typical: by dividing gurls here to either shallow pretty or ugly intellectual is a very basic stereotyping like old movies. this is not a role & anyother thing is an excpetion. let's agree that shallowness is overwhelming in Egypt regardless of narrowing it to gender issue.

welcome any ways:D

But I haven't seen that so far? :P

Kareem:

"well to be honest i dislike skinny women tamaaman :)"

My man :D

"but then again i've had by butt grabbed several times in Egypt by several girls so Sou you might wanna stop refusing to believe :)"

Anyone seen Sou here lately? :) I think she was too shocked to come back. Or may be she does but because she just went on defending her gender blindly, she's speechless now.

Ra3d:
"In some other countries, people have brains & time for manyother things rather than el tazbit, el mosa7ba, el mozzaz, meriam fares or Haifa wahby.this applies in both genders"

Ya ret wenaby t2oly el kelmetein dol to all Egyptian girls. Believe me, girls are more shallow than guys nowadays. OK, not all of them, some of them.

"not typical: by dividing gurls here to either shallow pretty or ugly intellectual is a very basic stereotyping like old movies. this is not a role & anyother thing is an excpetion. let's agree that shallowness is overwhelming in Egypt regardless of narrowing it to gender issue."

OK, let me get one thing straight, Thunder (I don't mean it in a mocking way by the way), I DID NOT CATEGORIZE GIRLS!! I mean why do you all jump to conclusions and just blurt out what you think without thinking? It's very fuckin irritating. If that's what you got from my post, then it's up to you to decide.

Mystery said...

Anyway, awel 7aga I agree with Sou (and I think you scared her away, you cruel man).

This seems to be an everlasting battle/topic over who's more shallow and it's like a fight between the genders. Both genders have their flaws. I think it's due to our society and media. Intellect has become rare and "true" beauty is defied everyday.

Here's my 2 cents for what's worth :)

Coconut said...

" some of them" bravo 3alik, keda momken netefe2. Good start :D

of course it's up to me to decide as equally as it's up to u to write freely whatever u think , im nt judging you in ur own blog man as i won't accept similar thg at mine
enjoy ur free space.

A mouse, not a girl? But I hate squeaky voices and a mouse squeaks, right?

No I'm not unbelievably picky. Read my other posts before judging blindly, girl.
